Manual 28kVA True Hybrid

230 V outlets are ALWAYS active when the inverter is switched on.

Diesel engine needs to warm up for 5 minutes to allow proper power calibration.

The red EMERGENCY STOP button is for emergency only.

Do not use this button to shut down the True Hybrid Unit after normal use. The inverter and generator can not cool down which might cause damage. After de-activating the Emergency Stop button, both main breakers need to be switched on.

Batt – Gen:  21 kW / 91 A  (Primarily battery + Automatic generator)

2,5 hours max load, starting at 100% energy storage (5 – 35 degrees C)
0-7 kW load: Batteries
7-21 kW load: Generator + Batteries

  1. Switch the yellow panel to ‘Batt – Gen’
  2. Turn the main switch on the 12 V generator battery to ‘on’
  3. Switch the Victron remote panel to ‘on’
  4. Push the button on the Victron Colour Display (Display shuts down every 30 min)

The True Hybrid Unit feeds power from the batteries and automatically will start the generator for extra power supply or charging batteries. Once the batteries are charged to 100%, the generator will automatically go in stand-by mode.

In ‘Batt – Gen’ mode do not exceed 7 kW load with more than 500 W.
The inverter can go into ALARM and shut down completely.

Within 500 W overload, the unit will start up and sync the generator before supplying combined power up to 21 kW in 30-40 seconds.
After power cut-off and ALARM on the inverter SWITCH OFF ALL LOADS.
To reset the unit, switch the inverter unit to “off” and back to “on”. This needs to be done on the Victron inverter itself. (Not on the Victron remote panel)

The True Hybrid Unit will always automatically charge batteries to 100% asap, according to available power from either the generator or external 16 A power supply.

The filler cap for diesel fuel is in the generator canopy at the right side of the van.

When not in use / overnight:

  1. Switch the yellow panel to ‘Batt – Only’
  2. Connect external 16 A power supply
  3. Switch the Victron remote panel to ‘Charge only’
  4. Turn the main switch on the 12 V generator battery to ‘off

Gen – Batt:  21 kW / 91 A  (Manual generator + Automatic battery)

2,5 hours max load supply at 100% energy storage (5 – 35 degrees C)
0-21 kW load: Generator + Batteries

  1. Switch the yellow panel to ‘Gen – Batt’
  2. Switch the Victron remote panel to ‘on’
  3. Turn the main switch on the 12 V generator battery to ‘on’
  4. Push the button on the Victron Color Control (Display shuts down every 30 min)
  5. Start the generator by operating the Deiff control panel
  6. Once the generator is stable at 50 Hz, switch the main breaker on the Deiff control panel to ‘on’

In Gen – Batt mode, the generator operates completely manual.
The True Hybrid Unit automatically combines AC generator and AC inverted battery power. After manually switching on the main breaker on the Deiff control panel, the unit needs 30-40 seconds to sync the generator to the inverter output. Batteries will automatically be charged to 100%.

Batt-Only:  7 kW / 30 A  (Generator is permanently switched off)

2,5 hours max load supply at 100% energy storage (5 – 35 degrees C)
0-7 kW load: Batteries

Turn the main switch on the 12 V generator battery to ‘on’
Switch the Victron remote panel to ‘on’
Switch to ‘Batt – Only’ mode on the yellow panel
Push the button on the Victron Color Control (Display shuts down every 30 min)

Batt-Only 10,5 kW / 45,5 A  (With external 16A inlet)

2,5 hours max load supply at 100% energy storage (5 – 35 degrees C)
Voltage of the external 16 A power inlet will be set to all outputs.

  1. Connect external 16 A power supply
  2. Turn the main switch on the 12 V generator battery to ‘on’
  3. Switch the Victron remote panel to ‘on’
  4. Switch to ‘Batt – Only’ mode on the yellow panel
  5. Push the button on the Victron Color Control (Display shuts down every 30 min)

In Batt – Only mode, the generator is disabled.

  3. Switch the Victron remote panel to ‘charge only’
  4. Turn the main switch on the 12 V generator battery to ‘off’

Good to know’s:

* Diesel engine needs to warm up for 5 minutes to allow proper power calibration.
* If you need more than 7 kW while in ‘Batt + Gen’ or in ‘Batt – Only’ mode without 16A external inlet, BEFORE APPLYING THE LOAD, switch over to ‘Gen + Bat’ mode.
* Start generator manually, wait for stable 50 Hz, then activate main breaker on the Deiff control.
* Changing mode of operation between ‘Batt – Gen’ and ‘Gen – Batt’ while under load is possible when the total load is not exceeding power supply maximum.
* Changing to ‘Batt – Only’ while generator is running will shut down the generator immediately because Deiff control will shut down completely.
* Batteries unload until 30% minimum capacity to secure long battery life.
* Batteries charge very quickly up to 80%, then charging slows down to secure long battery life.
* Charging time to 100% (starting at 30% load) is approximately 4,5 hrs when using 16 A external power inlet only.
* Charging time to 100% (starting at 30% load) is approximately 1,5 hrs when using the generator.
* Diesel tank capacity 80 L
* Fuel consumption at 75% load on generator is 3,5 L/H
* Energy storage in batteries is 20 kWH
The remotely operated main breaker of the generator needs to be mechanically loaded. Normally this fuse will function fully automatically. Ask for our support when the fuse spring-mechanism needs to be manually loaded.
* Always switch off the 12 V Generator starting battery main switch after use / overnight.
